CARIBBEAN DESIGN WITH A PORTUGUESE TWIST: MADEROS FURNITURE & MORE

Family and friends gatherings always bring the best ideas to live. When family and friends went for a visit under the big appeldam tree in Jose’s garden, he was lacking seats. So he decided to make some extra chairs from pallet wood.

But how did it all come together?

“A few family members came over and they really liked the chairs, so we went searching online for more inspiration. I perfected the concept of the chairs with sturdier, high quality wooden planks. That makes the chairs a bit heavier that it’s not something you can take away easy.”

The beautiful part of it that for each stage of your life you can have one of these chairs as there is one fit for every age period: from a little child to a grown adult. The back of the chairs have the form of the back of a person, making it very comfy to sit in.

But where did the name come from?

‘Well, I’m from Portuguese origin and the word wood in Portuguese is Madeira. So, the name Madero has a link with the wooden word in Portuguese”.

So we have a Caribbean design with a Portuguese twist.

After his wife, Ana, opened a store with handmade beauty products, Jose decided it was a great idea to expose the chairs and more items he made, in the store. The store is very central and a great spot to see his items.

So come and see his chairs and more at the IDDC pop-up shop next week.
